Week of June 4

We are discussing the Introduction and Chapter 1 of J. Nelson Kraybill’s Stuck Together: the Hope of Christian Witness in a Polarized World.

Something to bring to our discussion on Sunday: Kraybill tells a story of how his father used a creative response to resolve conflict and also how that story got passed down in the family and has spread around the world. Do you have stories from your own experience or from your family history that inspires you to creatively resolve conflict?

It’s potluck week!

Bring a dish to share and plan to stay after church for a meal together.

Please be thinking of what members of our church can do as an actor of mutual service this summer, big or small. A member of the service team should be reaching out to each household in the next few weeks about these opportunities.

Also, for the month of June, we will be collecting soap, towels, and fabric to donate to MCC. You can read more about this program here: https://mcc.org/get-involved/kits/soap-fabric-towels

MCC describes what they accept below:

Soap specifications

New bars of bath or laundry soap: All sizes and brands of bar soap are welcome. Please leave in wrapper.

Towel specifications

NEW bath and hand towels: Good quality, dark or bright colors, medium weight preferred. Washcloths are not needed.

Fabric specifications

Suggested fabrics: Washable twill, cotton, cotton blends, polyester and corduroy. Fabric must be 2 yards or more in length. Print, plaid or solid are welcomed.
